がんばってきたから今がある

2014年1月20日、入谷地区に新しく「農漁家レストラン　松野や」がオープンした。
木の香りが漂う板倉造りの建物は、千五百袋の籾殻で断熱され、実に居心地が良い。
ここで元気に働く松野三枝子さんの姿を、震災のあの日、だれが想像できただろうか。

松野さんは、当時末期ガンで公立志津川病院に入院していた。
命からがら屋上に逃れた後、松野さんはヘリコプターでの救出を拒み、津波で破壊された残骸の中を必死に歩いて山間の自宅に戻った。
彼女の予想通り、そこには家を流された28人もの親戚が避難していた。
その日から、連日の炊き出しが始まった。

薬も手に入らない状況の中で、一時は体重が28キロにまで落ちた。
見かねたご主人が、鳴子温泉に連れて行ってくれた。松野さんの中に命が甦った。

それからの彼女は、震災前から行ってきた漬物などの農産加工品やホタテご飯などをひっさげ、町内外に出かけ、病院の屋上での体験、その後の自らの体験を伝え歩いてきた。
両親を亡くした石巻の高校生に、「両親が津波の中でどんなにたいへんだったか、松野さんの話で知ることができた。父と母に、そして今があることにやっと心から感謝できる。」と言われたときにはうれしかった。

志津川駅の駅前から嫁入りした松野さんは、松野家の田んぼも長い間守ってきた。
来る日も来る日も一人で草刈りしていると、国道を通りかかった人が手伝ってくれることもあった。そうやって守ってきた土地に、「松野や」は建った。
親戚筋の家を建てる土地も提供できた。
つらかった過去は、このためにあったのだと思えてくる。

松野さんの生き様に多くの人が動かされた。山の木を切り土を運んで、田んぼの埋め立てを手伝ってくれた人たちがいる。
松野やを建ててくれた工務店の棟梁は、ケヤキのカウンターや柱、桐の洗面キャビネットをプレゼントしてくれた。
梁には久慈のアカマツが使われている。南三陸の農漁家レストランらしい建物を、という棟梁の心配りだ。
食器やテーブル、扉などは、奥秩父の旅館の方がくださった。
松野さんには、これまでがんばって来たいろいろなことが、さまざまな人とつながり、今の形になったと思えてならない。

先日、抗がん剤治療を受けている若い女性がご主人に連れられて、松野やにやって来た。
帰り際に、松野さんは声をかけられた。
「生きる気力をなくしかけていました。松野さんを拝見して、笑顔でいることが生きるってことだとわかりました。」
女性は笑顔になって帰って行った。

松野さんは、一日一日を懸命に生きている。
生きる喜びを実感しながら、精一杯生きている。

Mieko Matsuno

In the Iriya district, Matsunoya, a “farm & fisherman” restaurant, 
opened for business. Ms. Mieko Matsuno, who manages the
restaurant, was hospitalized in Shizugawa Hospital with terminal
cancer on the day of the disaster. She barely escaped with her life by
climbing to the roof of the hospital. After the tsunami had receded,
she walked to her house in a mountainous area, and found that no
less than 28 people had taken refuge there. Since that day, she has
provided evacuees with hot meal service day after day. Her life
.revived miraculously.
“Matsunoya” was built on land formerly used to cultivate rice which
she had spent many years protecting as the wife of a farmer. “We
could have offered the land to a relative who wanted to build a house
here. Looking back, I’m very glad that I decided to keep the rice
fields as they were,” she reflects.
Many people were greatly impressed by her way of life. Some
offered their support, such as those who helped prepare the land for
building, a master builder who supplied quality building materials,
and those who contributed tableware. Mieko cannot help but think
that her hard work was closely linked to the generous support of
numerous people, allowing her to be the success that she is today.
A young woman who was undergoing anticancer drug treatment
came to the restaurant accompanied by her husband the other day.
When leaving, she spoke to Mieko. “Although I almost lost my will
to live, I learned that keeping a smile on your face is essential for
living.” She returned home with a smile on her face.
With a warm smile on her face, Mieko lives each day to the fullest.
