The Minamisanriku octopus is famous for its rich taste and firm meat.Some locals say that the reason behind the fine taste of the Shizugawa octopus is that it feeds on one of the grandest ocean delicacies, awabi (abalone) and other nutritious sea life. You can enjoy both “mizudako” and “madako” type octopuses all year round – some mizudakos grow up to 30kg in weight!
