This is a painting experience featuring “Octopus-kun,” a lucky charm and savings bank modeled after the octopus, a specialty of Minamisanriku. The name “Octopus-kun” comes from the Japanese phrase “oku to pass,” meaning that placing it brings good luck in passing exams.
The octopus is also considered a lucky symbol that is said to “attract good things.” Painting a blank white savings bank allows participants to enjoy bringing their own ideas to life, while also providing an opportunity to creatively imagine their wishes and future goals.

This program is recommended for those who enjoy art and creative activities, wish to express their creativity while learning about Japanese folk craft culture, and would like to create a unique souvenir to remember their time in Japan.
